OUR SERVICES
WELL DRILLING – Residential, Stock, Commercial, Municipal, Mine Subsidence, Monitoring Wells, Blast Holes and Geothermal Drilling
Plains Water Well Service applies the most advanced water well drilling technology in air rotary, air percussion and mud rotary drilling. Why do we offer more than one kind — because each works best in different geology.
Mud rotary drilling works very well in areas with sand and gravel where it is hard to keep a hole open in unconsolidated formations. Mud rotary drilling does require a large mud pit to be dug for the fluids. Disadvantages to this are
- Longer period required to develop a well
- Mud pit required
- Slower drilling
Air rotary and air percussion drilling excels in hard rock and in boulders. With the proper techniques it can also drill well in semi-consolidated formations. Benefits to this are:
- No mud pit is required
- Excellent information on what's happening down the hole
- Immediate indication of water, we can determine quantity and quality of water encountered
- Very short well development required
- Fast drilling
- Aquifer not tampered with by mud
